What Temperature Should Breastmilk Be Warmed To by the Bottle Warmer?
When warming or thawing cold or frozen breastmilk, parents should always aim to heat it to body temperature– about 99 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius). There are two factors that make body temp the best level of warmth for feeding time: first and foremost, warming breastmilk to body temp offers your little one the most natural feeling feeding time possible, emulating how fresh breastmilk tastes and feels; secondly, warming breastmilk beyond a certain point– 104 degrees Fahrenheit and higher, to be exact– destroys the valuable nutrients breastmilk provides baby. It’s also important to note, however, that some babies may prefer cold, chilled, or room temperature breastmilk or formula– if it seems like baby is rejecting bottles at their “fully warmed” state, play around with milder temperatures to see if they like it more.
How Should I Clean the Bottle & Breastmilk Warmer?
Luckily, the Bottle & Breastmilk Warmer is super easy to clean– being that it only uses water for its warming basket, keeping the warmer clean is simple. For regular maintenance, we recommend unplugging the travel bottle warmer, pouring out any remaining water, and wiping the entire machine down with a paper towel or soft cloth. It’s crucial not to use any sort of scrub pad or other abrasive material or cleaning chemical that could scour the inside of the warming basket, as this could potentially damage the portable milk warmer, as well as release harmful chemicals into the warming basket from aggravating the surfaces of the machine.
How Often Should I Descale the Bottle Warmer?
Every so often, this breast milk warmer should be descaled to prevent buildup and to keep the machine and warmed bottles free of any harmful chemicals or bacteria. Every 4 weeks, parents should descale the machine to ensure safe and fully-operable warming cycles. There are two methods we recommend for descaling the bottle warmer: the first method is to mix 2oz of white vinegar with 4oz of cold water, pour the solution into the warming chamber, and run one heating cycle; the second method is to use Baby Brezza’s own Safe & Effective Descaler Liquid, which is safe and ready to use with any of our appliances. Again, simply pour the solution into the warming basket and run the portable baby bottle warmer for one cycle. Regular descaling of the portable milk warmer prevents corrosion, buildup, and greatly extends the lifespan of the machine.
What is the Difference Between the Steady Warm and Quick Warm Options for the Bottle Warmer?
Parents will note the two separate warming settings on the portable bottle warmer: Steady Warm and Quick Warm. Each option is designed for a specific purpose in order to promote the safest, easiest warming possible for breastmilk, formula, and/or baby food.
The Steady Warm option uses the portable milk warmer’s water bath to heat breastmilk to the ideal temperature, making sure to never go above 104 degrees, which would destroy important nutrients contained within your “liquid gold.” The Quick Warm option, however, is designed specifically with formula and baby food in mind, using the power of steam instead of a warm water bath. We recommend always using Steady Warm for breastmilk, and always using Quick Warm for formula or baby food.
