FAQs
Can You Wash Baby Bottles with Dish Soap?
While it is possible to find and use dish soaps that are safe for baby to use, it is not recommended due to the common presence of ingredients that can harm babies. If you haven’t found the ideal baby bottle washer for your home yet and need a quick option using dish soap, make sure to avoid these ingredients: the detergent sodium lauryl sulfate, known for its association with carcinogens; sodium laureth sulfate, which can be carcinogenic and cause liver damage; and artificial fragrances, which are known to cause allergic reactions. If nothing else, ensure you’ve boiled all of your baby bottle parts and have a bottle brush nearby– but we encourage parents to consider investing in an automatic bottle washer.
Can You Wash Baby Bottles in the Dishwasher?
Again, this can be a case-by-case issue depending on the types of equipment that you have. If you do not have a bottle washing machine yet and want to use your dishwasher as your at-home bottle washer, there are two steps parents should always consider and follow accordingly: first and foremost, make sure that each bottle and its associated parts are, in fact, dishwasher safe– manufacturer’s labels will typically be found printed on the bottles themselves or on the packaging; secondly, make sure to use fully-heated washing and drying cycles that will kill germs and eliminate any moisture afterward. Extra moisture can promote bacterial growth and germs that are potentially harmful to baby.
Do You Have to Wash and Sterilise Baby Bottles Every Time?
Absolutely, and we encourage parents to look into equipment like a baby bottle washer machine to help make that process even easier and less risky. Each bottle component has to be washed and sterilized after every use to prevent buildup or cause extra moisture to linger in components. Buildup and moisture can lead to bacterial growth and germs that can harm the baby. This is why bottle washing & sterilizing for the first 12 months of a baby’s development are both so important.
How Often Should You Sterilise Baby Bottles?
Many parents may mistakenly believe that they can wash bottles after every use but will only need to sterilise them occasionally– this is not the case. In order to promote the healthiest environment and feeding times for baby, parents must sterilise each component of their baby’s bottles after each usage. Sterilisation can be tricky to perfect and ensure each time, which is why we encourage parents to invest in a bottle washer that gets the job done correctly every time they press the Start button. You’ll rest assured knowing that baby is using fully-sterilised bottles every time, and baby will only be healthier for it– not to mention, an automatic bottle washer and sterilizer helps you save time, giving you even more moments to make memories with baby instead!
What do I do if I get an error code on the Bottle Washer?
All troubleshooting should begin with unplugging the machine and allowing 15 minutes to pass. Please see a breakdown of the error codes below.
- E1: If you receive this error, please unplug the machine and allow 15 minutes for the machine to remain unplugged. You can then plug in your machine and reattempt. If the issue persists, please contact our Customer Care team.
- E4: This error means that there was an issue with the detection of the magnet with the reed switch. To troubleshoot this error, please make sure that your machine is descaled and clean. Make sure that the the waste water tank is empty, and the clean water tank is slightly above the fill line and restart your machine. If you receive any other error, please follow the recommendation for the error received. If the issue persists, please contact our customer care team.
- E5: This error means that there is water remaining in the sump. To troubleshoot this error, you need to empty all the water in the sump. You can do this by holding down the wash mode & Sterilize Dry button for approximately 7 seconds. This will activate the discharge pump and remove any water from the waste tank.
- E8: If you receive this error, please power cycle the machine. Upon turning the machine back on, if you receive any other error, please follow the instructions to clear that error out.
- H2o: This error can mean two things.
- One: Not enough water is available to complete the sterilization cycle. To troubleshoot, you can add more water to the clean water tank and restart the sterilization cycle.
- Two: There is mineral build up on the heating plate and it needs to be descaled to remove any buildup.
Any other error codes on your Bottle Washer, please contact Baby Brezza Customer Care at https://www.babybrezza.co.uk/pages/contact so we can understand which error message has occurred and help you troubleshoot it.
Why do I get white residue or haze on my bottles after using?
We are sorry to hear you are experiencing white residue or a haze on your bottles after washing. Below we have listed some possible reasons for this occurrence and some solutions.
- Excessive Detergent: The white residue may be the result of using too much detergent in the wash cycle. We recommend using only 1 Baby Brezza detergent tablet, as excessive soap can leave behind a residue.
- Hard Water Deposits: Another possible cause of the white residue is hard water deposits. Hard water contains minerals that can accumulate on the bottles and leave behind a white film. Consider using distilled water if you are in an area with high mineral content in your water.
Why Washing Bottles in the Baby Brezza Bottle Washer Pro is different & better than a Dishwasher.
- Cleans more effectively with 20 direct spray jets vs two spray arms – the Bottle Washer has 20 high-pressure direct spray jets that blast bottles, pump parts and accessories with water to wash and rinse. Most dishwashers only have 1 or 2 spray arms that rotate and don’t directly spray water on items inside. As a result, the Bottle Washer ensures that even the tiny crevices are cleaned in your baby products.
- Has specific racks for optimal cleaning – the Bottle Washer’s racks are designed to accommodate baby bottles, nipples, even vent tubes to ensure they are thoroughly washed, rinsed, sterilized and dried
- Sterilizes vs dishwashers that don’t – the Bottle Washer offers a sterilization cycle which uses natural steam to kill 99.9% of germs. Dishwashers do not sterilize – they only sanitize which uses hot water up to 165º F which doesn’t kill 99.9% of germs
- Takes less time – the Bottle Washer washes, sterilizes and dries in 88 minutes. Most dishwashers take between 2 and 5 hours to wash and dry and even longer if you include sanitizing. And if you’re in a rush, you can select from 6 settings, five of which take less time including Wash Only, Dry Only, Wash & Dry, Sterilize & Dry, or Sterilize Only.
- Uses 80% less water than a dishwasher - The Bottle Washer Pro uses less than 1 gallon of water for a wash-sterilize cycle whereas a typical high-efficiency dishwasher uses 4 gallons of water and a standard dishwasher uses 6 gallons of water for the same cycle.
- No waiting for your dishwasher to fill up
- No mixing with food residue or heavy detergents that are common in household dishwashers
Our Bottle Washer Pro is the cleanest and safest option for bottle washing. Capable of washing, sterilising, and drying every bottle component, this bottle washer uses 20 high-pressure jets to reach every crevice and hard-to-reach area, helping to ensure completely safe bottles for baby’s next feeding time.
This baby bottle washer also offers a HEPA filter for the drying process, guaranteeing the most safely-dried bottles possible. The HEPA filter helps prevent dust, pollen, and other airborne particles from attaching to bottles while drying so that germs and bacteria are less likely to develop and potentially affect your baby’s health or allergies.
With 6 cleaning modes available, a chamber capable of storing up to 4 bottles, parts, & accessories, and separate, removable tanks for clean and dirty water, this bottle washer provides ease of use and the comfort of keeping your bottles as safe and clean as possible. It also uses 50% less water than hand-washing bottles and is even more thorough than hand-washing, too.
The baby bottle washer is easy to use and clean, so parents never have to waste time wondering if their baby’s bottles are being left open to any potential bacteria. To further prevent any lingering moisture in the bottle washer, we recommend tilting the machine after each use to help drain any remaining droplets.
